Introduction
Buku Events is a West Coast lacrosse tournament and showcase company founded by Johnny Rodriguez, former national champion goalkeeper at Salisbury and 8-year pro. Based in Costa Mesa, CA, Buku runs tournaments and showcases across Southern California, San Francisco, and Las Vegas. 35,000 players and 750 teams a year. Sponsors include STX, Gatorade, and USA Lacrosse.
Challenge
When Johnny came to us, Buku Events was running on duct tape. Website on LeagueApps. Contact data in Google Sheets. Email blasts through Wix. Sales pipeline in a HubSpot account that wasn't connected to any of it. Coaches, directors, and parent contacts from event registrations sat buried inside LeagueApps with no way to pull them out, segment them, or market to them. Three employees spent hours every week manually exporting registrant lists, cross-referencing them against old spreadsheets, and copy-pasting contacts into email tools one event at a time.
Solutions
We stripped the old setup and rebuilt everything around HubSpot. Clean data, one system, no more duct tape. Johnny needed the new site live by New Year's, so it was a full sprint from October 1 through December 31. We were building pages over Thanksgiving and pushing the site live while everyone else was watching the ball drop. New website, new branding, and 2026 event registrations all launched at the same time.

We moved Buku's website off LeagueApps and built a new one on HubSpot's CMS. I consulted on the rebrand alongside their design team to sharpen the visual identity and make the site match the quality of the events. Website, contact database, email marketing, and sales pipeline all under one roof.

Solution 2 - LeagueApps API Integration
We built an API connection between LeagueApps and HubSpot that automatically pulls coach and director data from every event registration straight into the CRM. No more Google Sheets. No more manual exports. Every contact lands in HubSpot clean, tagged, and ready to market to. 3,000 contacts cleaned and migrated in the process.

Solution 3 - Sales Dashboard & Event Pipeline
With clean data flowing in automatically, we built out HubSpot's Sales Dashboard so Johnny and his team can see every prospect, customer, and event pipeline in one place. Who registered for past events. Who hasn't committed for upcoming ones. Where to focus outreach. Planning 15 events a year gets simpler when your data actually talks to each other.
